Horizon Continental Technology Showcased L2+ Intelligent Driving Solutions at the 2024 Continental Group China Technology Experience Day

2024-10-28

From October 23rd to October 25th, 2024, the Continental Group China Technology Experience Day was successfully held at Gaoyou, Yangzhou. The theme of this event is 'China's Innovation and Intelligent Driving, Together for a Better Future', showcasing Continental Group's innovative technologies and solutions to customers and the media. As a joint venture between Continental Group and Horizon Robotics, Hroizon Continental Technology attended the event with its L2+intelligent driving solution (Astra) to have in-depth exchanges and discussions with customers and media on topics such as the development and application of advanced intelligent driving technology.

At the opening ceremony of the event on the 23rd, Mr. Tang En, President and CEO of Continental Group in China, and Dr. Murong Te, CTO of Continental Group's automotive subsidiary in China, delivered speeches, sharing the future trends and development paths of the automotive industry, bringing us profound industry insights. Mr. Lu You, Products General Manager of Hroizon Continental Technology, also attended the opening ceremony and introduced the Hroizon Continental Technology L2+intelligent driving solution (Astra). This solution does not rely on high-precision maps and can achieve full scene coverage of L2+ functions. It supports urban NOA lite, highway NOA, HPA and APA functions. The solution is equipped with 11 intelligent cameras, 1 forward millimeter wave radar, and an intelligent driving domain controller based on the Horizon Journey 6 solution. Compared with the mass-produced mid-level intelligent driving solutions on the market, the addition of a surround view camera expands the perception coverage range, improves the perception distance and accuracy, and provides a full scene, uninterrupted NOA intelligent driving experience. Compared with advanced intelligent driving solutions, the elimination of LiDAR greatly improves cost-effectiveness while ensuring system performance, providing customers with highly competitive intelligent driving products.

On the afternoon of the 23rd, Mr. Lu You, Products General Manager of Hroizon Continental Technology, also shared the highlights of the L2+intelligent driving solution with online customers and media through a live streaming platform. He demonstrated and introduced the highway NOA functions, such as autonomous cruising and overtaking, changing lanes and on/off ramps according to navigation, intelligent avoidance and detouring of occupying vehicles, passing through ramp bifurcations, and passing through large curvature curves, and the ICA functions in urban areas, such as driving straight through light controlled intersections, avoiding large vehicles and pedestrians, etc. In terms of urban functions planning, Lu You stated that Hroizon Continental Technology will achieve urban NOA demonstrations in the first half of 2025 and mass production of urban NOA by the end of 2025. At that time, the hardware will still maintain its current configuration, mainly relying on the advantages of software algorithms to achieve higher-level urban intelligent driving functions, helping NOA function become a standard feature in the main price range of passenger cars with sales of 100K to 200K, allowing more people to enjoy the safety, comfort, and convenience brought by intelligent driving, thus forming a positive cycle of sales growth, data accumulation, algorithm iteration, and experience improvement.

After the test drive event on the 23rd, Continental Group also arranged a media Q&A session, where everyone had in-depth discussions on the technical route and product positioning of mid to high level intelligent driving. Regarding the product positioning of Hroizon Continental Technology, Lu You said, 'Currently, the market has mass-produced highway NOA solutions based on 7V, but in urban scenarios, the 7V solution has difficult problems to solve. For example, in unprotected right turn scenarios, the 7V solution has visual blind spots for vehicles coming from the side and rear, which often require safe takeover. The 11V solution is the minimum number of cameras we believe is necessary to achieve perfect urban functions, and it is a configuration that can fully perform urban functions and experience in most scenarios. For lower priced solutions, Hroizon Continental Technology will have a highway NOA solution that supports both highway NOA and automatic parking, and is expected to replace the smart camera in the future. There are differences in product positioning between these two products and the existing 7V memory driving.'

During the 3-day event, OEM customers and media experienced the Hroizon Continental Technology L2+intelligent driving solution by test driving. They praised the outstanding performance of Hroizon Continental Technology products in highway and urban scenarios, and looked forward to this intelligent driving system bringing users a new travel experience.

The successful hosting of the Continental Group China Technology Experience Day has enabled more customers and media to recognize and understand the products and technological concepts of Horizon Continental Technology. In the future, Horizon Continental Technology will use leading intelligent driving technology and products to assist OEM customers in creating globally leading intelligent driving solutions, allowing more users to enjoy the safety, comfort, and convenience brought by intelligent driving.
